ABOUT ROOTED WELLNESS
What services does Rooted Wellness offer?

Where is Rooted Wellness located?
Rooted Wellness is located at 4262 S. Jackson St. in San Angelo, Texas 76903.
Do I need to know which treatment I need before making an appointment?
No. Many patients know what they are experiencing but are not sure which service is appropriate. Your visit can begin with a conversation about your history, symptoms, activity level and goals so an appropriate approach can be discussed.
Does Rooted Wellness take a whole-body approach?
Yes. Rooted Wellness offers several different approaches to musculoskeletal care and wellness rather than relying on one technique for every patient. The services recommended will depend on your individual situation.
Are Rooted Wellness services appropriate for all ages?
Rooted Wellness sees patients with a wide range of ages and needs. Techniques can be modified based on age, physical condition and individual circumstances. Certain services may not be appropriate for everyone, so health history and current concerns should always be discussed with the practitioner.
CHIROPRACTIC CARE
CHIROPRACTIC QUESTIONS
What is chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care focuses primarily on the musculoskeletal system, including the spine, joints, muscles and the way the body moves. Treatment may include manual adjustments, mobility work, soft-tissue techniques, therapeutic exercise and education.
What problems do people commonly see a chiropractor for?
People frequently seek chiropractic care for concerns such as back discomfort, neck discomfort, joint stiffness, reduced mobility, muscle tension, headaches associated with musculoskeletal issues and sports or activity-related problems.
Does every chiropractic visit involve an adjustment?
Not necessarily. Treatment depends on your assessment and individual needs. A care plan may include adjustments, soft-tissue techniques, mobility recommendations, therapeutic exercise or other supportive approaches.
Are chiropractic adjustments painful?
Chiropractic treatment is generally intended to be comfortable, although some patients may experience temporary soreness afterward, particularly when an area is already irritated or tight. Tell your practitioner if you are uncomfortable at any point during treatment.
How many chiropractic visits will I need?
There is no universal number of visits. Your needs can depend on the nature and duration of your problem, your activity level, your goals and how you respond to care. Rooted Wellness develops recommendations based on the individual rather than a preset treatment schedule.
Can chiropractic care be used if I am active but not currently injured?
Yes. Some active patients use chiropractic care to address mobility, joint function, muscle tension and movement concerns even when they are not dealing with an acute injury.
PRENATAL & INFANT CARE
CARE FOR GROWING FAMILIES
Can I receive chiropractic care while pregnant?
Chiropractic care can be modified for pregnancy. Rooted Wellness uses pregnancy-appropriate positioning and techniques designed around the changing needs and comfort of expectant mothers.
Why do pregnant patients seek chiropractic care?
Pregnancy changes posture, weight distribution and joint mechanics. Some patients seek care for lower-back discomfort, pelvic discomfort, joint stiffness or changes in mobility associated with pregnancy.
What is the Webster Technique?
The Webster Technique is a chiropractic approach commonly used with pregnant patients. It focuses on assessment of the sacrum and pelvis and addressing associated joint dysfunction. It is not an obstetric procedure and should not be described as a technique for manually turning or repositioning a baby.
How is chiropractic care for an infant different from adult chiropractic care?
Infant care uses a much lighter and age-appropriate approach. Evaluation and techniques are modified for an infant's size and stage of development rather than using adult-style treatment.
Does infant chiropractic replace pediatric medical care?
No. Chiropractic care does not replace routine pediatric care or medical evaluation. Concerns involving illness, development or other medical issues should be discussed with your child's pediatrician or appropriate healthcare provider.
Should I tell my obstetrician or midwife that I am seeing a chiropractor?
Yes. Keeping the members of your healthcare team informed helps ensure coordinated care, particularly if you have pregnancy complications, restrictions or other medical concerns.
SPORTS CHIROPRACTIC & DRY NEEDLING
FOR ACTIVE BODIES
Do I have to be a competitive athlete to receive sports chiropractic care?
No. Sports chiropractic can be appropriate for competitive athletes, recreational athletes, runners, gym members, weekend warriors and other active individuals.
What is Active Release Technique?
Active Release Technique, often called ART, is a hands-on soft-tissue method that combines precisely directed pressure with movement. Rooted Wellness lists ART as part of its sports chiropractic approach.
What is dry needling?
Dry needling is a technique in which thin, sterile needles are inserted into selected muscles or trigger points as part of treatment for certain musculoskeletal problems. It is distinct from acupuncture, which comes from a different therapeutic tradition.
What problems might dry needling be used for?
Dry needling may be considered for certain areas of muscle tightness, trigger points, restricted movement or musculoskeletal pain. Whether it is appropriate depends on your individual evaluation.
Does dry needling hurt?
The needles are very thin, but sensations vary. Some people notice a brief twitch, pressure or aching sensation. Temporary soreness after treatment can also occur.
Can chiropractic, ART and dry needling be used together?
They may be combined when appropriate. An individualized sports care plan might use more than one technique depending on the tissues involved, the nature of the problem and your goals.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
A GENTLE HANDS-ON APPROACH
What is craniosacral therapy?
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle hands-on complementary therapy that uses light touch around areas such as the head, spine and sacrum. Some patients choose it primarily for relaxation, comfort and supportive wellness care.
What does a craniosacral therapy session feel like?
The technique generally uses light touch rather than forceful manipulation. Experiences vary, but many people find the setting and hands-on approach relaxing.
Is craniosacral therapy the same as chiropractic adjustment?
No. They are different approaches. Chiropractic treatment generally focuses on musculoskeletal assessment, joints, movement and related tissues, while craniosacral therapy is a lighter-touch complementary technique.
Can craniosacral therapy replace medical treatment?
No. It should be considered complementary care rather than a replacement for diagnosis or treatment of medical, neurological, psychiatric or other health conditions.
WELLNESS SERVICES
PEMF, LIFEWAVE & IRIDOLOGY
What is PEMF?
PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy. Devices produce changing electromagnetic fields and are offered in a variety of healthcare and wellness settings. Rooted Wellness offers PEMF sessions as one of its complementary wellness services.
Is PEMF appropriate for everyone?
No treatment is appropriate for everyone. Be sure to discuss your medical history, implanted electronic devices, pregnancy and other relevant conditions before beginning PEMF or another device-based therapy.
What is LifeWave phototherapy?
LifeWave is a brand of adhesive patches marketed as phototherapy products. Rooted Wellness provides information about LifeWave as part of its wellness offerings. These products are not a substitute for appropriate medical evaluation or treatment.
What is iridology?
Iridology is an alternative wellness practice involving observation of patterns and characteristics of the iris, the colored portion of the eye. Rooted Wellness offers iridology as a wellness service.
Can iridology diagnose disease?
No. Iridology should not be used to diagnose disease or replace laboratory testing, imaging, physical examination or other established medical diagnostic methods. Medical symptoms or concerns should be evaluated by an appropriate licensed healthcare professional.
SUPPORTIVE THERAPIES
ADDITIONAL TREATMENT OPTIONS
What is TENS therapy?
TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. It uses low-voltage electrical stimulation delivered through electrodes placed on the skin and may be used as part of a pain-management or rehabilitation plan.
What is therapeutic ultrasound?
Therapeutic ultrasound uses high-frequency sound energy delivered through a treatment head applied to the skin. It may be incorporated into treatment for selected musculoskeletal and soft-tissue concerns.
What is cupping therapy?
Cupping uses cups placed on the skin to create suction. It is commonly used as a complementary soft-tissue technique and may temporarily leave circular marks or discoloration on the skin.
What is scraping or Gua Sha?
Scraping or Gua Sha uses a smooth handheld instrument over the skin and soft tissues. In musculoskeletal settings it may be used alongside other treatment to address soft-tissue mobility and muscular tension.
Will I receive these therapies at every visit?
No. Supportive therapies are selected according to your individual needs. Receiving chiropractic care does not automatically mean that TENS, ultrasound, cupping, scraping or another therapy will be part of your treatment.
PLAN YOUR VISIT
APPOINTMENTS, PAYMENT & YOUR FIRST VISIT
How do I schedule an appointment?
Call Rooted Wellness at (325) 617-4172 or use the website's contact page to get started.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first visit generally begins with a discussion of your health history, current concerns and goals. An appropriate evaluation can then help determine which type of care, if any, may be appropriate for you.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely is generally a good choice, particularly when your visit may involve movement assessment, therapeutic exercise or treatment of an extremity.
Does Rooted Wellness accept insurance?
According to Rooted Wellness's current policy, the clinic currently accepts Medicare only. Because coverage and eligibility can change, contact the office if you have questions about your specific situation.
Can I use HSA or FSA funds?
The clinic states that patients may use eligible Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account funds for chiropractic care. Your individual plan rules determine which expenses qualify, so check with your HSA or FSA administrator when necessary.
Do I need a referral?
Referral requirements can depend on the type of care, your medical circumstances and any applicable benefit rules. Contact Rooted Wellness if you are unsure whether a referral or other documentation is needed.
What if I am unsure whether Rooted Wellness is appropriate for my problem?
Call the office and explain what you are experiencing. If your symptoms appear to require another type of evaluation or medical care, an appropriate referral may be recommended rather than trying to force your concern into a particular treatment.
